Wash Karategi

It is everyone's duty to keep a good personal presentation, both out of respect for the dojo and our colleagues, and also for the care of our uniform. Here we give some simple tips for the care of the karategi. Respect for our dojo and for others, also goes through good personal hygiene and care of our karategi.

Brief instructions to wash the karategi

  • To eliminate the sweat of the habitual training it must be put in the washing machine and select the cycle with cold water as short as possible or the option of delicate clothes. For more difficult spots more temperature / time should be applied.
  • The karategis should NOT be washed at more than 60º C.
  • Add laundry detergent (NO CHLORINE) and a little softener.
  • Do not use a dryer (although there will always be a slight shrinkage of the garment during the first two or three washings).

When the dirt is deeper you can resort to these tips to wash and preserve the karategi.

Let it soak in water for 12 hours with detergent or bath soap. The soap is passed through the karategi without scrubbing and leaving a good time so that all the dirty comes out easier.

Place baking soda on the most affected parts. The neck, the area of the armpits and the sides where the Hikite is made, are areas where rubbing and sweating is greater, you can add a little sodium bicarbonate mixed with water and let it soak.

Use soft mode washers. The karategi should preferably be washed by hand however the use of the washing machine will always be a good option, but in the softest mode so that the fabric is not affected by the rubbing of the wash and the strips do not roll, which It can cause fiber breaks.

Avoid chlorines and strong bleach. Except extreme cases it is not recommended to use whiteners, of course these detergents if they left it white, but at the cost of the fibers of the fabric decreasing their strength faster which can cause in a short time to lose firmness and there may be small breaks between the fibers.

Drying in the sun . The best drying is to place them in the sun, this allows to eliminate the strong odors of the fibers, although an automatic dryer is faster, this makes the fabric shrink as some fibers exposed to extreme heat decrease its length.

On the other hand, in the market there are already several bleaches of sportswear that eliminate the remains of deodorants and karategi sweat, some more effective than others.
